FUTURE FOOD CHALLENGES IDENTIFIED – ALL IRELAND ENVIRONMENTAL FORUM

Some of the key new challenges facing the food industry and those who regulate it into the future include ‘novel’ foods, foods produced using nanotechnology (*), the use of cloned animals in the food chain and the interaction of packaging materials on foodstuffs, according to Mairead McGuinness, MEP, a member of the Environment, Food Safety and Public Health Committee of the European Parliament.
Speaking at the All Island Environmental Health Forum held at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone today (Thursday), she said currently no applications have been submitted to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for nano products. Read in full →

I am delighted to be here this afternoon to formally launch the Environmental Health Officers’ Association’s Revised Primary Course in Food Safety.
