Martin Higgins, Chief Executive Officer of SafeFood Officially Launches the Brand New EHOA Food Safety Course

(19 Nov 2010)

1 IMG 0237.JPGOn the 19th of November Martin Higgins Chief Executive Officer offically launched the revised EHOA  Primary Course in Food Safety and brand new DVD Food Safety 4U. The EHOA Primary Course of Food Hygiene has been revised as part of the EHOA’s ongoing commitment to providing the most up to date and pertinent information when it comes to food safety training. The revised course and brand new DVD Food Safety 4U has been revised and designed to the highest standard by a team of Environmental Health Officers’, each of whom have many years’ experiences in food hygiene inspections and food safety training.

The new course which now consists of ten sessions compared to the previous eight will cover a broader range of subjects.

These sessions are geared towards enabling food workers to see and understand where problems could arise in the preparation, handling, storage or service of food.

The greatest improvement to the course is the brand new award winning DVD entitled Food Safety 4U. This DVD is ideal for use on Level 2 courses.

This DVD uses fun and easy-to-understand scenarios to teach topics that are perceived to be complicated. For example, risk assessment is far easier to understand when you base it on cooking your breakfast.

The DVD is narrated by the actress and voice over specialist. Dervla Kirwan

Topics covered include:

·         Introduction to food safety

·         Microbiological hazards

·         Temperature control

·         Food poisoning &control

·         Contamination hazards & controls

·         HACCP

·         Checking food temperatures

·         Personal hygiene

·         Food premises & equipment

·         Food pests & controls

·         Cleaning & disinfection

·         Food safety law & enforcement

Successful students are awarded a Certificate in the Primary Course in Food Safety from the EHOA.
