EHOA support the QUIT Campaign
The Chairman of the EHOA announces the Associations support for the HSE’s QUIT Campaign formally launched today Monday the 13th of June 2011. The EHOA have been to the fore of tobacco control and smoking cessation and were prominent in the instigation of the Workplace Tobacco Ban. Whilst the tobacco ban has been entirely successful in improving workplace air quality and reduced the effects of second hand smoke on non smokers, there are still about 1 million smokers in Ireland and, each year, 5,500 Irish people die of a tobacco related disease. The HSE estimate that between €1 and €2 billion is spent each year by the HSE in treating tobacco related diseases.
For further information please see the HSE Press Release and QUIT Campaign Information Booklet & QUIT Q&A.
