Environmental Health Officers' Association Mission Statement

To promote, educate and advise our members, the public and industry on environmental health and public health issues in the 21st Century.

Purpose

(a) To promote the efficiency and usefulness of Environmental Health Officers by setting up a high standard of professional and general educational knowledge and by enforcing the observance of strict rules of personal conduct as a condition of membership.

(b) The promotion and interchange among its members and others of such knowledge of Environmental Health as falls with the department of an Environmental Health Officer engaged in carrying out the duties imposed upon him by Environmental Health legislation for the time being and otherwise and the right, liabilities and duties of Environmental Health Officers or persons who by virtue of their vocation are engage in Environmental Health.

(c) The general promotion of the objects of Environmental Health and kindred objects.

(d) To organise, found and maintain and to hold classes in Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland for the study of Environmental Health and the laws relating to Environmental Health and Environmental Science, the right, liabilities and duties of Environmental Health Officers.

(e) To hold examinations and to grant and award prizes and certificates of the result of examinations to any students for proficiency in subjects related to environmental Health and kindred subjects.

(f) To grant scholarships or other awards to successful students.

(g) To petition the Government in the interests of members of the Association where deemed necessary.
