2009 DIT Environmental Health Graduation Ceremony

DIT graduation ceremonies for the class of 2009 took place on Saturday the 31st of October 2009 in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where 38 Environmental Health graduates of the Faculty of Tourism and Food were conferred.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has been informed of a food recall initiated by H J Heinz Co Ltd. The implicated batch is being recalled due to the potential presence of small pieces of plastic which could present a choking risk.

Tesco Ireland Withdraws Brown Wholegrain Rice

Tesco Ireland has withdrawn two batches of its Tesco Whole foods brand of Wholegrain Brown Rice in 1 kg packs. This is due to the presence in some of the packs of live weevils (insects).

Recall of Food Supplements, Fortodol and Miradin

Swedish laboratory tests have found that some of these supplements have been contaminated with nimesulide, which is a medicine whose use has been suspended in Ireland because it was linked to severe liver-related illnesses.
